The Greater Harrisburg Arts
Council, is pleased to announce an incredible line up of great
music at the 44th Annual Patriot News Artsfest. The Harrisburg
Midtown Arts Center (HMAC) & Stage on Herr have created the
music venues at this year’s Artsfest. John Traynor & Gary
Bartlet- Artsfest Volunteer Entertainment Chairs, owners of
the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center, and local performer and
artist Thom Bissey have volunteered to produce a magnificent
line up of entertainment for this year’s Patriot News
Artsfest. Bissey, the booking agent for Stage on Herr/ HMAC,
is the entertainment coordinator and manager for the two major
stages at Artsfest . The two stages will be located at both
ends of River Front Park during Memorial Day weekend.. Two
major stages will feature over 50 local and regional groups
during the hours of Artsfest. ‘Stage on Herr’ at Kunkel Plaza,
which is located at State and Front, and ‘Stage on Herr’ at
Walnut, located between Walnut and Locust on Front Street’s
Riverfront Park will be filled with all genre’s of excellent
talent.
This year’s lineup runs the
full gamut of musical styles, with focus on local original
acts, including favorites like The Jellybricks, Dana
Alexandra, and The Chopped Liver River Band. Also in the
lineup will be returning festival favorite groups including
High School ensembles and area dance troupes. The Jellybricks
have been central Pa’s favorite Powerpop rock band for over
ten years, gaining favorable reviews and followings nationally
and internationally. They have been Artsfest regulars for
years and the Greater Harrisburg Arts Council is happy for
their return. Indie Pop rock singer Dana Alexandra has
returned to Central Pa, with a new band and a new CD soon to
be released. And we thrilled to show casing her talents.
Because we like to mix things up, The Chopped Liver River Band
will be returning with their fun loving Klezmer Band.
The Patriot News Artsfest
is a community based, volunteer run event. This includes a
juried fine arts festival, with an eclectic musical mix of
talent with a focus on local original acts. Also featured at
Artsfest is the 13th annual Filmfest, and returning is the
ever popular KidsFest in Riverfront Park. The Greater
Harrisburg Arts Council and Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (HMAC)
have partnered together to create the musical and
entertainment performances for this year’s festival. HMAC is
located at 3rd and 268 Herr St. in historic Midtown
Harrisburg. ‘Stage on Herr’ located at HMAC has become a
cultural hub for local, national, and international
performers. Open 7 days a week featuring a full bar and live
entertainment. A full schedule of events can be found on their
calendar at www.harrisburgarts.com. HMAC a huge supporter of
local charities and causes is fully volunteering their efforts
to make Artsfest one of the East Coast’s best arts festivals.
